well, it seems that the stick cars are the ones that keep rasing the bar in different combos in the ls1 world in the last year, the manual have won most of the races and the pro's run manuals, moral of the story, if you can drive and your car is set up right manual will win.

i put over 200 passes on my oem tranny and over 150 on my spec 4 clutch before i broke a minor little part

its nothing like a stick car launching off the revlimiter
a T56 can run that. with a properly set up auto, I would expect LOW 10's with a 128 trap speed.

the T56 just isn't set up with good gears for drag racing IMO. a well setup auto will be quicker than a T56, but not faster. a jerico with the proper gears will be quicker and faster than the auto, IMO.

thats why god (GM) gave us a GTO tranny.

I've thought about going to a 350/400/200R4 MANY MANY times but everytime i start typing up that i'd trade them, i just go ahead and hit the back button and continue on with the day. just nothing like rowing your own gears, having the chance to miss, and knowing you can run thru em faster then the guy next to you. Maybe it was dad always saying "manuals are tougher" or grandma and her "back when we raced in the 60's, an auto was a pig and slower then sin. If you want to go fast, get a manual" (maybe thats why she had a 4 speed 67 SS

Exactly! I proved this several times in my older cars all I did was convert to a stick it has always beeen 4-5 mph gain and 2-3 tenths no matter what. Also I've never had a clutchless that would be even better yet

Sticks are just gonna be faster its common sense less drivetrain loss = more power.

I agree that the less power loss will be faster with a good driver.. I just know that I'm not that guy. PUlling a lever when a light comes on, and lettign go of a buttom for launching, that I can handle, just never got a stick down at the track good enough to get teh most out of it. I know that last year at the 403 rwhp I was making with my 3700 lb car I should have been able to run better then 12.2, but never did. I know that the auto will suck some power from my car, but the only real racing I can ever do is brackets, so the consistancy is more important to me at this point, and I think that the auto will get me that. And alot less maintenance.

Someday when I get my car to teh point where it's on a trailer, and only getting a 1/2 mile on it at a time, a clutchles stick might be somethign I'd think about doing.. if the cost is worth the speed I'll get from it.

The main reason I went to an AUTO is the street.. A 6spd is never gonna hook up on the street with any kind of power. I got tired of losing to slower cars all the time because I couldnt hook up worth **** with my 6spd. Don't get me wrong.. I love a manual. Its alot more fun than an auto any day.. Thats what they make transbrakes for!!

In most cases... the AUTO will outrun the Manual.. Cause most guys can't drive the manuals good enough and can't be consistent with them..

Ahhhh, get better tires? Or change your suspension settings?

And I firmly disagree with the last statement. I **** on every single auto at the track last week, and we all had similar set-ups. Maybe on the way to get groceries you cross paths with a shitty M6 driver, but when you are into racing, you surround yourself with racers, and they can usually drive

I think that with the right clutch, and the stick being at the same weight as the auto the stick will be quicker and faster. Also having a good driver helps to.
