Default Drag Race Sway Bars?

Guys, which ones do you like and why? About to order one and curious to see what you've had luck with. Figuring on 9.80s or so n/a and maybe a 200 shot on top of that at some point with 3300 racweight and a th400. Would like to keep it around $300 ( no mad expensive double sway bars and no bars that require the use of a fuel cell as i'll be using the nasty performance set up).

Thanks.

i LOVE my Wolfe bar.

I've only had THAT bar besides stock, so not alot to base off of. But I love it for how even the car feels coming out the hole. When i was doing 6000rpm dumps in the 6speed, car came up even every time.

Yes, i've looked at the billingsly bar, does look like a nice piece. Some have said on another board that these billinsgly type weld on bars are a bitch on the street. this car will see some good street time, but don't get me wrong my definition of streetable is very wide. i have a set of rod end lca's on the car right now

I'm about to finish up installing my Wolfe (just have to paint the tabs that I welded to the rear frame rails, then put the rear end back in the car). Really looking forward to the straight launches... No more of this:

The Wolfe seems like a nice piece. A little more expensive than $300, but seems well built.

The rear bars that are welded on all four corners drive like a car with ladder bars, if you ever had a car like that. I had a Chevelle that I put ladder bars on back in 1992.

I run the Spohn drag bar, it's a boltin, uses bushings on the rearend. The bar still has some give on inclines.

Gee, thats not to twisted....I'll have to get a pic of mine hopefully this w/e twisting it way out of the hole (looks very nasty, even from inside the car!).

I'm looking b/w Wolfe and Billingsley, not sure.

Don't let your wife drive your car over obviously high speed bumps straight on.... snapped the right side arm off of my single wolfe bar instantly..... I wasn't even in the country but when i came back rod end was still attached to frame and other side was holding broken arm.....

needless to say it doesn't work as good as it used to with only one end attached...

when it was connected though it worked wonders.... does make a TON Of noise though.... at first i thought i snapped a u-joint or i had rocks in my rearend... (that didn't sound right did it???)

I have had BMR's and Spohns on the car, they are virtually the same and I really like them.
I have had both b/c I had a 4.10 12b in the car with that Spohn bar on it and I wanted to try some 4.33/spool so we pulled from a buddy's car that had the BMR unit on it.
The car is straight as an arrow now!

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Outlaw, that's crazy. Are you saying any kind of speed bump or anything is a no no for going over with this bar? Any other street obstacles you'd recommend avoiding with this bar? For what it's worth I decided to run the billingsly piece. Thanks.

Hee hee, let's see it.

I went with the Wolfe because (1) my car is no longer a street car (I have 2 other Camaros to play with also), and (2) my stock swaybar was twisted around the axle (the mounts I used rotated on the axle tubes), probably due to launches like that. I also had some slight underbody damage where the Madman torque arm mount hit the sheet metal on the floor (I still wonder how it did that and didn't snap U-joints).

I was told straight up that the Wolfe wasn't really a street bar. I have no plans to use it as such.

I got the same damage, but I run the Spohn TA and Drag bar. I heard it hit on a launch but didnt notice it till later in the day, got a hole back there now.

well some have told me that my bar hangs pretty low... i think it's all in where you mount the tabs on the frame. if you mount them low the arms are going to be lower than the bar itself (in my case)... if you mount them higher you can get the arms to be level with the bar (what i should have done).... my arms hung lower than the bar hence with a large speed bump they tagged the pavement.... not really their fault and more my own...

I thought about removing the bar and getting the BMR setup cause i like the way it's setup on the rearend but now since this bar is welded onto the axle tubes it's gonna be quite labor intensive to remove it. i'm thinking about fabbing up new arms (having my local raceshop do it) and then welding them onto the bar. while i'm at it i'm going to box the arms as well for strength...

Oh, ok. I was thinking something entirely else and stupid on my part. I didn't think that the arms themselves contacted something, but was worried that the stress of going over the speed bump killed it. Sounds like i'll be just fine. Thanks again!!!

Which bar do you have? I am debating between these two:

I run this bar on my car:
http://spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1333

My car launches straight and flat with it.

It's a great bar for a street/strip car. You get the benifit of a stiffer bar without the added extra noise of a solid mounted race bar.

It's basically a big stock replacement, comes with everything need to replace the stocker.
