Default E/Ts on 15x8s VS 15x10s??

Well ive gota pair of 15x8 prostars with 275/50 BFG radials (not the web tread style). Anyway im wondering if i should sell my 8s and go with 10s. Ive seen plenty of mid 11 and 12 second cars on 8s, but there is another 2in i can have fun with. So far the only plus ive seen to doing this is a bigger tread print on the track.

I've seen cars go 9s with 15x8s. You have more options for tire size with the 15x10, but 15x8 is not too limiting. You can run a 275/50/15, 275/60/15, and a 28x10.5x15 on them. Not many cars out there that need more tire than that.

most of the slick manufacturers reccomend a 10" wheel with a 10 " tire but i have seen numerous 8" wheels used with great results.when you have low air pressure the tire will have a bigger contact patch and it sets flat all the way across the surface.

Tires tuck in better with the 15 x 10's. i swapped out my street tire 8's for 10's just cause of that. i have another set of 10's with my 26x10x15 ET Drags.

How much extra work is it to make 10s fit? My 8s went straight in after some grinding. Im really debating on getting some 10s with 325/50/15 MT Drs. And what BSing for 10s? 3.5?

That's a whole lot of tire to run high 12s. I don't see the point in switching unless you are having traction issues now.

I think too many people just toss big tires on their car without fine tuning their suspension first. Obviously some people really need a tire that big, but most don't. My buddy has an '02 3.8L/5-speed camaro and he runs 13.5s. He dumps the clutch from 5200 rpm on a 235/60/15 drag radial and dead hooks, cutting low 1.8 60's. I realize that he is dealing with much less torque than you, but a car running high 12's shouldn't need anything larger than a 275 section tire....

Understandable. I wasnt just going for the "hook" i wanted the look of 10s too. Im not going to put a 10 in tire on anyways without some suspension upgrades first.

I agree. I would say 99% of the people on this site should never have to go any bigger than a 28x10.5x15. Suspension setup is key in getting power to the ground.
