the track should be flat so the car shouldn't roll.
I would say launch around 1600rpm and lightly slip the clutch for a few feet.
With street tires you won't be able to launch very high

it is kind of hard to say because i have launched at 3200 with a fast slip of the clutch and still only managed a 2.17 60' just practice

Put a switch at the bottom of the clutch stroke that triggers a line lock. Light the last light, touch the brake and put the clutch in. Go for the gas pedal. Let the clutch fly or slip it and away you go. Hook up a two step to the same switch and you can foot it to the floor. No looking for the tach. Adjust for the best RPM.

I launch between 2500-3500 depending on the track conditions. The trick is to slip the clutch enough to keep the rpm's up, if you bog on the line you lose, thats it. It took me about a dozen or passes to get comfortable doing this on a semi consistent basis. and the best 60' time I have is 2.1 on 245 street tires (fuzionz). I think that 1.8 is possible with drag radials, those are my next mod.

it means you slip your foot off the side, and the clutch just pops off.

anyway, the best luck ive had with street tires is by not launching it hard.. it sounds counterproductive, but being smooth and easing out is alot faster then spinning.... thats how i get 1.8s and the occasional high 1.7 on street tires..

dont pop the clutch, the shock just breaks the tires loose and spins them. dont just mash the gas down.... smoothly but swiftly let the clutch out, and roll the throttle on...

if you want the killer launch, then get the tires and suspension, and prep the car for whats going to break (rear, then clutch and Ujoints)... but its fun when you can REALLY launch the car.

so will a stock rear end hold MT drag radials or should i just go with nittos, i can't afford to replace my rear right now so i need to try to play it safe as possible. i know that does not make much sense when i am at the track draging but oh well it is fun!!

What RPM are you launching at? Do you have to worry about 'boggin' at lower RPM launch?

Thanks for your help...

with street tires? it changes from car to car.. the more worn out the front struts are, the better it'll hook.. i just kind of feel it around, really its around 2000.. remember im not trying to LAUNCH, but rather slip the car forward without spinning the tires loose.

with the slicks.. its a 4800+ clutch drop. probly higher now that i have a cam. i havent been to the strip in awhile ( convertible + no cage = booted)
