odd question I have sort of an odd question-I was wondering if anybody has heard of lightweight T-tops? like if the glass was made of a lighter material like polycarbonite "i think thats what its called, well whatever they call lightweight glass is what im getting at" I thought about this because T-tops are heavy--so anyone got anything?
I have heard of someone making them out of carbon fiber, never actually seen any that were done. Plexiglass ( like what alot of race cars use for windshields ) would probably not work because it is too flexible so much so that I wonder if they would get sucked out of the car at high speeds, not to mention it would be hard to get that to conform to the correct shape.

About 3 years ago, we tried getting a local shop to make some out of carbon fiber but there was not enough demand for them. If you can get enough people, most fabricating shops like that can design & fabricate them.
My '91 came with Lexan T-tops from the factory and they later discontinued them because of being easily scratched and stress fractured.Mine don't look so good on the topside but I can tell they're lighter and bigger than the '02's.
There's a guy on frrax who makes them from time to time. It's a single replacement panel for both tops, and I don't think it's meant to be taken on and off, just put on in place of the t-tops and left there.

I just weighed mine and they are 12#s a piece. Even if they were extremely light weight we are looking at saving maybe 18#s total so the cost would have to be very reasonable.
