screw it I'm leaving mine in the front and not gonna bother with the switch.. someday when someone says something to me about it I'll worry about it then.. but until that happens I'm running without it.

I don't think the stock harness is gonna catch fire, so until that comes out, I feel relativly safe.

All depends on your tracks, there are some tracks I can go and run 8's wearing a T-shirt and a 6pt.

The switch is there on faster cars so they can shut you off at the line if they notice your car pouring fluid or something happening thats shouldnt be. Running in front of the car on the line could be a little dangerous and I never pay attention to the starter - just the tree..

Secondary reason IMO would be to shut the electrical power off if something happens at the other end. I really dont like the whole battery relocation thing (not just the weight but the safety aspect of it) and I may switch mine back to the small battery up front and make the switch in the back cut the accessory power..

That would probably work. Or, see if there's a way to just kill the fuel pump that way or something, maybe wire the switch so that it will break power to the fuel pump, something like that.

Personally, if something happens at the other end where power needs to be cut (I wreck my car for some dumbass reason) I think it might be better if it just burns to the ground.. with me in it LOL.

My feeling on the whole thing is, I just took a securely mounted 14lb battery out of the engine compartment as far as way from me as it could possibly be and all wiring going to it in plain sight and instead mounted a 40lb battery in a metal box INSIDE the car with 2 pieces of threaded rod holding it on plus 25 feet of hidden cable running inside the car.

It seems I just made the car heavier and increased the possibly of something bad happening if the car did crash but that could just be me

Your setup looks clean KP.

I got a question. Do you need the kill swtich only if you go faster then 10.00/135mph? My battery is being relocated to the hatch, but I dont think I will run faster than 10.00/135mph. Do I still need to get one to pass tech at the tracks?

JimmyP- NHRA says anytime you relocate the battery to the trunk/hatch a kill switch is mandatory. I have my battery in my trunk for the last 5 yrs and didn't have a kill switch. If you are only running TnT I don't think they'll check you. I just put one in cause I'm going to running in some sanctioned events where I HAVE to have tech look at my car. -Mark

Thanks for the response. Is any kill switch ok, or just the Flaming River type of switches?

I think any switch would be ok as long as it is marked clearly as to what is on and off and the switch itself is visable and within reach.
