Ive been told I will need a battery strap in order to run. Is this true? If so where can I nab one?

Yes, it is. That is the reason for about 90% of the tech inspection failures for the high school races i go to. The battery needs to be secured down so if the car flips it cannot start a fire. I got a battery strap out of a 64 GTO and had a friend fab it up to work for my car. My other buddy made one out of aluminum. Just bend the aluminum to fit in the space and use a power drill to drill it in.

Year One sells battery straps that bolt right in. Works nice.

The stock battery hold down is considered legal at our track (IHRA). However, double check your stock one if you try to pass with it, they are notorious for breaking.
