Default Do you carry a fire extinguisher in the car?

I've been wanting to do this since getting a blower put on, but kept putting it off.

If you have one, where did you get it? I saw one on vetteworks online that mounts on the passenger floor. But, the pic for the fbody appears to be an lt1. Is there enough rm to mount it in an ls1 with that big hump on the floorboard and still allow a passenger to sit (it says for fbods up to 02)? I do not have any kind of roll cage installed.

Also, does the extreme heat and cold affect the extinguisher?

Thanks.

Gary

I just got a smaller, cheap one from autozone i think... it's silver.. i just throw it on the floor where the rear seats used to go... kinda halfass, but I feel better knowing I at least have one... it might be cool to make one fit in the center console... like, maybe cut a hole out the back to where it sticks out a little... i'll probaly just mount mine on the rollcage when I get that in though...

I would have it either mounted on the rollcage, or somewhere where its easily attainable. I heard of a guy that had a fire in his engine bay resulting from his nitrous setup, but his ext. was in his trunk

I installed a 15lb fire system in the car, with nozzles under the hood and in the passenger compartment. Bottle is mounted behind the drivers seat and the activation **** by the aldl.

That's what my car will get when it gets back together, it would have saved it the first time around

I've got one I think from walmart or something, maybe 5lbs, fits perfect wedged behind the pass. seat, I can reach right over and grab it, can handle desert heat w/the windows up..

I had a fire in my old truck once a long time ago, thankfully I was near a friends house and he was home w/a fire extinguisher, well I used the whole thing because it was an electrical fire and wouldnt go out, alternator went a blaze, but it was a ford... (Fire On Ricky's Driveway) lol...

That was a bad deal, the Fire crew at Atlanta dragway are idiots. Fire extinguishers are a good thing to have when dragracing. Hope you get your car going soon.

I've got a 10 pound one behind the passenger seat so I can get it easily from my drivers seat.

You never know if you spin out and your exhaust catches the grass on fire. Or if a oil/fuel line ruptures.

It would be a shame to watch your car burn to the ground because you didn't keep an extinguisher on hand.

That all it weighs eh? Thats not bad. How expensive/complicated would it be to make one? Might be a good idea considering the money being sunk into my truck...
