I have noticed the 8 in ATI 5500 stall being very popular...
So i was wanting to give it a try..... thing is everyone around here tells me its overkill.... i try and argue but u know how that goes.......
just wanting some thoughts on this... and exactly which converter Part # is everyone runnning??
thanks
David
Call ATI/TCI/Yank/whoever you perfer and talk your setup over with them. They will do their best to spec the right verter.
i usually brake stall it to about 2500 and flash it but, trex doesnt even make power till after that.
a friend of mine has a 5500 he took out of his nova and i am thinking about trying it. i dont know what everyones opinion is on the desktop dyno and desktop drag, but it has nailed 3 of my friends and my car to within a few hundreths. anyway, it says that i should gain about 3-4 tenths with the 5500 over the 4000. dont know.
my only concern is reving it past 7000 with stock rod bolts. what is everyones thoughts on that????ni usually shift about 6800 right now. i dont know maybe i am a *****.

Shifting at 7400 is a waste, I already tried it.

I usually shifted 7000 give or take 50rpms.
If flashed it where would it stall?Who knows, cam only just put it on
the verter and let it creep.Just make sure your suspension/tire is set to handle the hit.
I have no idea what the part number is, but I know they went for 850.00
when I bought it.
