Gotta ahte it when you finally get a rear that isn't loud as **** and and you end up having ot take it apart again to do a gear swap

Mines loud as ****.. and it bothers my girlfriend. But I DID ALL THE BACKLASH CORRECTLY

I think Ill stay with my M6 for a long time. But then again, I dont put much more than stock power down yet. I plan in the spring to go with a bit of juice, of the 150+hp variant. I know Ill need an upgraded fuel system, and everything- but I think that if I just keep street tires on, the most Ill do is break my gears again

no, you'll smoke clutches, break the driveshaft eventually, break the tranny eventually, and the rear, will eventually break the post, the gears axles, all that.

Stick cars are VERy hard on parts, nitrous stick cars are even worse... you'll find out.

I have been spraying my m6 car for 2 years and all it has broke so far was the rear end. And that was due to a dry burn out that wheel hopped and put it out of it's missory.
now I have about 40 /50 more HP due to the new H/C and 90mm set up.

Last year it would cut low 1.50's. This year I'm hoping for mid to low 1.40's.

But yes, it is hard to be consistant. I to have been thinking about going to a th400.
But I'm scared to loose street manners.

If you want street manners go with a well built A4...

I agree, I actually ran faster with the six speed than the auto in my case and was actually within several 100ths most days at the track with the six speed. Reaction time with the auto was easier for me though where I didn't have a two step in the car...

Ahh but what you lose in rwhp you can make up with stall speed, STR & shift extension. I have been reading a few of your anti-automatic comments and felt compelled to reply to one. This is the most recent thread so here goes:

Your argument is that a manual will always beat an auto because they get more power to the wheels. My argument is that an auto can get the same ET even with less HP to weight ratio (similair ET but with less trap). Of course this will ony be true if the setup is designed for maximum effiency. IE the converters size, STR and shift extension compliments the gears, tire size, camshaft, N20, ect.

You got 9.7 @ 141 (very nice BTW).

Doc OTIS has a recorded pass on the ET database of 9.7 @ 132. So he was able to obtain a similair ET but with almost 9 mph less trap through a TH400.

Fear the LS1 has a 9.6 @ 139. RUQWIKR has a 9.6 @ 136! All through autos.

Now I took a look at the quickest F-bodies on ls1techs ET database. I played with the ET database parameters and found out the quickest stock internal F-body was an automatic. The quickest cam-only F-body was also an automatic. The quickest heads and cam F-body was an automatic. The quickest Nitrous F-body was an automatic. Hmm, I see a pattern forming here. What about the worlds quickest F-bodies?

I know Ronnie Duke got well into the 7's through an automatic. W2W & Mike Moran got "casper" into the 6's through an auto! But someone should probably call these guys up and tell them they need to take thier automatics and "stick it" so they can be faster

Yeah, I read the post where you made that comment a few months back

This is not to say I don't enjoy rowing gears or respect what guys like you and Taner have done. I think your 60' and ET are phemnominal I think M6's are alot of fun on the street. I know M6's are superior on road courses. I know M6's get better gas mileage. And I know they can be lethal at the drag strip with the right setup & driver. But when it comes to getting the best possible ET with the least amount of trap speed (not to mention less chance or breaking the tranny/10 bolt/12 bolt) the automatic is the way to go.
