Sounds very familliar... my buddy was beside me when I was going up a 10% incline and was filming my try truck screaming at 5000RPM through my catback exhaust with my foot through the boards trying to maintain speed...

it whould pull the hills but it was very hard on the truck like u said....it was just a matter of time befor i whould burn up the tranny in it. i even had the superchip in my truck helped it a little. another downfall was on flat highway it whould shift in to 5th at 75mph and just dident have the motor/ gear to keep it at 75 with out haveing to drop down to 4th then it whould race up and shift back to 5th (5spd auto trans) I had the truck in tow hall mode but there was no way to shut overdrive off. MY new truck u can put it in tow hall mode and shut OD of or leave od on

I have the Superchips, CAI and an exhaust on the truck... it's bloody quick for a 5500lbs truck, running close about 90MPH in the 1/4! I have pulled my Firebird with an open trailer and it pulls like a champ... that's about 5000lbs... the enclosed rig full of stuff adds about 3000lbs not to mention the aerodynamic drag... and the truck lets you know it's working over time pulling ~8000lbs...

i think the areo drag hurts it the most... not so much the weight because i rented a bob cat skid stear that was 7k pounds and a equipment trailer and it pulled alot beter then my enclosed trailer witht he car. that was with the hemi.....

I would never get less than a 28 footer. I've learned my lessions over the years. Get an all aluminium if you're worried about weight and don't overload with crap. You will regret it. Golf carts, 4 wheelers, fuel, tool box's, spares, BBQ's ect that you say you will never need, you will. Good luck.

Andre,

Have you looked at an open trailer with rock guard on it? That would be easier to haul with your truck than an enclosed and will protect the car from rocks etc.

Nineball has a nice one, I'll ask him to post pics.

I sleep in the enclosed trailer as when I got to the track it's ussualy from Fri-Sun... sleaping in an open trailer would not cut it

It's going to be around 5 degrees celsius this Friday night... and we have had a couple rainy nights so far... I'll take an enclosed & heated trailer over a tent any day

That's why I went with the 20 footer. It weighs 3400 and my car is 3200 so it keeps me under the 6800 trailer rating of my 1/2 ton truck.

I mounted a winch and marine battery in the nose and use my front tie down points to winch the car in and out so I don't have to climb out the window.
