[QUOTE=Houston999]how to adjust my Hal q1 shocks for best 60ft?[/QUOTE
Set the shocks at midpopint.
Before any adjustments are made, I video the launch,[put a stripe on the tire] and see how the car behaves. I pay particular attention to:
A. Pitch rotation.
B. Tire deflection.[Location of tire wall wrinkles tells a story]
C. Body separation.
D. Possible chassis unloading after launch.
Start at the mid setting, and soften them until I see a negative change in short times. I then back up 1 click.
If the times go negative, after the first adjustment, I go back to mid, and tighten them a click at a time, until I no longer get an improvement.
I'd suggest the tests be done at the same track, same day, same burnout time, same driver. Make lots of notes!!
Make 3 launches at each setting. This allows for a possible bad launch.
Tires should be 10-15* hotter than track surface.[Infrared gun]
Depending on the tire, use that mfgrs suggested PSI. Once you get the chassis working, you can experiment w/ tire pressures.

Your car should go fastest at the highest shock setting the track will hold. I usually try to strart out at 6 or 7 in the back and 3 or 4 up front and adjust down or up from there. This year I also played with setting the passenger rear shock one higher then the driverside to help keep the car level during launches. I was able to pull both front tires 2in off the ground with 17in drag radials out back, so I would say that it was helping a little. My best 60ft was cut with the socks set at 8 in the back and 2 up front.
