Default Effect of cutting springs?

I need to do something about the rake that my car has. I'm having trouble hooking and dropping the rear end to level the car out seems like the logical thing to do. I've already removed the rubber isolator, and it needs to come down more.
What are the negative side effects of cutting a coil out of the rear springs? How does this change the spring rate? Anybody have any problems resulting from doing this?

Myself and a couple buddies have done it, no issues. I've been 1.53 and my friends have been similar. I'll be dropping into the 1.4's or better next year. I cut like 1 3/4 coils off, dropped it pretty low, so I added my isolators back on again, sits nice.

I'm guessing you're running bigger tires in back then in front like me. So did you just start cutting until the car leveled out?

No, I just cut the same as my buddy did and it was kinda low, so I added the isolators again. I'd start with one coil.
