10's on 18" DRs??
I am currently having HPE build a 408 for my '01 ss. I will keep my MTI stageIIR heads and put a FAST 90/90 on it. I have 18" Nitto DRs and am trying to figure out if they will bite enough for a 10 sec pass. I have all the suspension done, not to extreme race specs but not stock either. Mostly Hotchkis products. Do ya'll think I can hit 10's with this setup or will I need a little spray? Its a six speed by the way and I will have a 12 bolt in it before I hit the track.
Thanks
Thanks

if you're shootin for 10's i would look to a smaller diameter rim with a larger sidewall to give you better bite off the line, you'll notice almost all the guys running those kinda numbers are on like 15" weld rims with a meaty slick or drag radial

Its not built to be a race car. Its a weekend cruiser but I was curious whether it would hit 10s on the drag radials or not. If not, thats ok, I will probably only take it to the track once anyway. There are no plans for a cage in this car. Thanks for the interest.

I think Ranger did it with his new Z06 with just drag radials...

Thanks guys, I am still thinking about a 100 shot just to make sure I hit that 10 sec mark. Then the car will have to be retired Houston Raceway as I intend on no cage. Thanks again

Cool, thanks. I still want to be able to load my son up in the back seat when I get home so a bar might work. Its just a cruiser, I just want to know what its capabilities would be. I guess when I get home next spring I will have to go try out my rusty skills.

Robert, you did a 11.08 with your current setup and 18"s? Your numbers are probably in the area of where mine will be when I get spray. I still have to finish getting a few more things before I get the spray. I need to change the driveshaft and possibly the clutch. I have the Spec 3 and will rock it till the wheels fall off but I dont think it will hold that much power out of the hole. Either way, I cant wait to get home from Iraq next spring and finally get to cruise the SS.

Now I am running 235rwhp and ET streets, injectors and fuel pump, still bone stock longblock and no headers and ET in my sig (only 4 passes so far and quicker ET to come).
Good luck
