Default Setup for traction?

Car is 98 camaro, 550whp and 600+ wtq. Besides the obvious strong rear and slicks or DR, what suspension wise do I need to have to get good straight line hook. I DD the car and drag it at the strip, harsh ride doesnt bother me. My dad is old school and was thinking of a ladder bar setup he doesnt like the torque arm, I wanted to check and see what others with high wheel power are running to hook up. I have SFC and LCA but thats it. Also thinking of going coil over as it should help plant the rear.

I would definitly go with coil overs. A torque arm will help alot as well as your pinion angle.

If your LCa's are adjustable, adjusting them will also help. Adjusting would be your biggest help.

I know that adjusting to get everything perfect is gonna be my "best" option, but I was looking for was which setup that was adjustable should I go for before I went buying parts. I guess what im saying is will the stock setup with adjustable parts do what I want to do or will I need to switch to a ladder or 4 link setup. Thanks for the reply and sorry to the mods for me putting this in the wrong section.

A good torque arm( Madman, BMR Extreme, Wolfe or Spohn). A good antiroll(Wolfe, BMR, or Spohn. New adjustable lower control arms( Madman and all the above). Hopefully you have a aftermarket rearend. You will also need relocation brackets. I would then put a set of adjustable shocks all the way around( AFCO, Strange, or QA1). There isnt any reason for a coil over rear or ladder bars/4 link.

i have cut 1.29 60's with a cheap jegs torque arm, wolfe lca's, and qa1's (front & back), homemade phb, bmr reloc. brackets, and stock springs in back. my guess, the car was making around 800 rwhp. the torque arm suspension is a good set-up as long as you have good parts. sometimes i regret spending all the time and money to put the 4-link in my car but just love the way it looks with a full tub in it and the huge tire tucked nicely under the car.
and yes, madman is the shiznit

i know im not madman but i think every good torque arm is adjustable. you use the adjustability of the torque arm to set pinion angle. the adjustable lower control arms help you center the tire in the wheel opening if you are running a bigger tire.

for drag racing iv been told -2 degrees pinion angle is optimal, even though its not the best for pinion life. With an adjustable torque arm ill be able to adjust it to -2 when I get to the track and have it at 0 or close to it when im just DD it.

What do most think about UMI products. My LCA are from BMR and are a nice unit but my SFC are UMI and they are very nice aswell, only thing I dont like about the BMR product now is that its all silver vein. Im one of those who likes the "look at me aftermarket red" Im not gonna let that stop me from buying a great performing part though. But I also dont want to mix all kinds of makers together randomly.

Thanks to all who have posted, now I have a direction to go when searching and researching for a proper setup.

P.S for proper LCA angle u want the end not connected to the rear higher correct? right now mine is lower since I have Eibach springs.

almost everything BMR sells is red. that is pretty much there standard color. you can get the stuff in any color though. also that is correct about the lca's, you do not want the the lca pitched up towards the rear end.

BMR changed their colors, now everything is Silver Vein. Check out their website its was pretty recent when they made the change.
