I havent bought mine yet but I have done alot of research on this. Here is the fitting to plumb it straight into the oil galley http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I dont know if its better to use this fitting or buy the adapter they sell.
I have seen them mounted in the car to under the radiator with an electronic valve.
Do you have a motor in the car now john?

I just sold my shortblock last weekend, starting to collect parts now for the build.

where exatly does that fitting match to go?

are you going to go with the moroso that summit has? if so, what size?

how exactly is all of it plummed?

It goes were the oil galley plug is right behind the alternator.

I am going to buy the accusump made by canton the 2 or 3 quart model.

I am not sure if its better to do it with the fitting in the galley or the spacer under the oil filter. There are plumbing instructions on cantons website.

Canton LS1 kit:
#22-566 Accusump input adapter
#23-245 (two) .5" to -10AN fittings
#23-725 package of two hose ends
#23-705 (10ft) of high pressure hose
#24-006 3qt. Accusump
#24-270 electric valve kit for pre oiling applications "ONLY"
#24-271/24-275 epc valve kit for racing applications
#24-200 mounting clamps

is there anything in their parts list that is different that you found?? besides the block adapter at summit. the whole system looks very simple.

after a quick overview of the technical information, the canton definatly looks like a better design than the moroso, plus they have more options on sizes and valves.

If you can, try to hook it up to the oil galley, only because it sends the oil straight to the needed source. Definetlly get the electric control unit so every time you start your motor youll have oil pressure. Your bearings will thank you.

so the plug in the block behind the alternator will work fine, right?

the oil accumulator, is a pressurized can that gets it's pressure from the engien running, initially it gets it from compressed air.

What it does, is supply the engine prior to startup oil pressure. You have a lever, or an electronic valve that will open, sending the oil in a pressurized tank into the oiling system, feeding all the bearigns and whatnot, so that there is no initial startup damage done to the engine. Alot of people with loose clearanced race engines like to use them because it prevents the startup damage that is more common with a loosely built engine.

Once the engine is running, the presure from the oil pump refeeds pressurized oil back thru a valve that the driver then closes off once the engine is up to temp, storing pressurized oil in the accumulator for use on the next cold startup.

www.accusump.com

a lot of great info there. it will preoil the engine with pressure before startup and 'backup' to provide oil pressure if it ever drops momentarily. i.e. hard launching and cornering.
