Default Wiring harness

For those of you who decided to make your car a track only car. What did you do with your wiring? Did you just unplug/cut the stuff you weren't using anymore? I was thinking about ditching everything and buying a painless wiring setup so I could clean up the wiring in the car and put stuff where I wanted to. Has this been done ? Anyone see any issue's with doing that.

Marked everything 1st. Then un-plugged, tried to save as much as possible. Put in bags and saved. Obviously a '70 1/2 Rally Sport stuff is much much harder to replace with original stuff if & when I restore it.

New custom wiring will be a lot of work. But you can pick your gauge, colors, routing ect. I just bought bulk spools of misc colors & gauges. Didn't like the universal kits.

Good luck.

When I switched to the BBC I took the computer and wiring harness out that connects to the engine. I did my owm wiring for my guages/ starter/ MSD/ Fuel pump. I left the wiring for my radio, window, door locks and lights. If I was making a drag only car I strip everything out and start from scratch. Just buy some big rolls and plan your wiring and routes and you'll be alright.

Plus it helps that everything comes with wiring instructions so you shouldn't be walking around in the dark.

I just finished one this weekend. Between my Haynes manual and shbox.com, I rewired the entire car..
I kept:
Ignition Switch
Power Windows
Marker/Tail lights
Headlights (no bright/dim)
Brake Lights
dome light
gauge light brightness rheostat thingy
remote hatch release.

Everything else is gone and rewired for the BS3 and a couple gauges..

It's really not bad at all, just time consuming. You have to strip all the loom and tape off the existing harness, and that's a sticky mess.
