I've ran a spool on the street many times, and I intend to again. It takes a little getting used to, but it's really no biggie.

is there a trick to cut down on the clunks/clatter with a spool. noticed some mentioned more throttle while parking etc.
kinda makes me nervous hearing all the noise. but it def helps with launching..woot!

I dont have any noises either, but my DRs wont last more than probably 2000 miles.

I just got my spool installed yesterday and I love it so far. I dont have any noises, popping etc... Turning and backing up wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

Wow I can't believe how many members are running spools on the street.
I'm still running my 12 bolt posi. Are there any weight savings with a spool?

Love my spool but my car see's more track time than street time. But I noticed on dry roads you can't really tell, even if your running hard in the turns. My car still seems to stick like glue in the turns, doesnt do anything scary

When I lifted my posi w/ the ring gear attached and my spool that also had the ring gear attached there was a noticable weight difference of about 10lbs if not more.

I agree, the locker would unlock at the most inopportune times causing an unexpected lane change...

Well I use to drive a 85 Monte Carlo SS with welded gears and no power steering for a little over a year as a daily driver just fine.
