I wouldn't worry about running 9.0's... 9.60's or 9.70's is good enough that you won't be running people down too hard and you won't be getting chased too hard. My dads won his fair share of Hot Rod rounds running 6.1X's.

Many of the better Hot Rod racers I know run 10.50's and up... Personally I wouldn't want EFI for running the throttle stop, wouldn't be easy to rig up. Much cheaper to just plop a 468 or something in there, granted not as cool.

My experience tells me that LSx engines are going to cost about double that of an old school setup.

My LS block alone cost ~$2400.

Intake and throttle body ~$1100

Jessel Mohawk rocker arms ~$1400

see how it can get more expensive? It seems everything for an LS costs way more, maybe because of a smaller market? I don't know, but going old school should cost alot less.

Agreed. I might be buying a complete 540 for $6k

I love the technology behind LS1's but just don't have the cash to go fast with them... That's the only thing that's stopping me.

Me and my dad run Hot Rod and we're looking at spending $1400+ in entry fees alone next year plus gas... It's not easy on the wallet if you don't win.
