what rpm to launch at?

taking my car to track to night for the first time 2000 A4 TA lid/filter,catback, stock stall. what rpm should I launch at, I will have ET streets on also. what time should I run, it's the 1/8th mile. Thanks

As high as your stall will allow. Which if I remember correct will be 1800-2000ish. I could be wrong though. -Mark

With a stock stall you will be limited to about 1000 - 1300 RPM. I would try just standing on it without trying to stall it up first.

I would launch at around 2100 if it were me. But it all depends on whats done to your car and how its setup.

The stock converter is 1800. You will not be able to stall it up more than 1200-1500 before it pushes through the tires. Your best bet is to launch it around 1200 or so. Good luck!

I've never been to a track but when I'm trying to take off fast just messing around in my automatic...I usually just give it a little gas maybe just under 1k and gas it and let off the brake when Im rdy...that usually gives me enough tire spin to handle...experiment a little....cant do much in a near stock auto rlly
