I wouldnt use ti as a drive shaft due to ti inability to handle torsional stress.it doesnt really strech it just shatters.

I couldn't afford one of MADMAN's driveshafts but we did try a powdered metal ring and pinion in my 9". Its a blend of iron, molybdenum, and asbestos. There weren't really any weight savings to be had (although we did lighten the ring gear and use an aluminum spool) but we found that blend of metals/minerals along with the aluminum spool tended to absorb the shock of a stick car launch alot better than normal materials. Also, the asbestos acts as its own lubricant and allowed us to run ATF in the rear for decreased friction...
