Bain, So you just have the Muffler slipped right on to the header and then a dump off on the end of the muffler?

I that about doing this a long time ago, but never did it cause i thought it would loss power. I had duel cutouts on a stock h/c and it loss 9hp. If i do this on my current setup in the sig will it gain anything.

Yes. Header Collector -> 3.5x3 reducer -> 3" Oval Borla XR-1 -> turn down

I ran spiral flows off the headers, they were kinda raspy.. they are also pretty heavy mufflers

I'll be doing a different muffler, more oval, perahps magnaflow if I put mufflers on my headers again.

From what I understand the fastest SI cars run this way or with open headers so that tells you something.
It might have to do with velocity instead of backpressure.
I think you want to keep the velocity as high as possible and the backpressure as low as possible.

Stock Internal (meaning no motor work) If you want to know about velocity, I would ask about it in the Advanced Tech Forum. I would like to keep this thread on topic. (no offense)

is that why you did the bfh mod to that part of the frame where the fuel/brake lines cross?

I may have to do that to mine with my spriral flows.

Here are a few pics of my max effort race set up. It is quiet enough to drive on the street, but no where near as quiet as my y-pipe with the dual/dual ultraflow set-up.
It sounds real tough and we ran our first 9 second pass thru the mufflers as the pics show.

I do love the sound, but as much as we drive the car, it's not a realistic long term option for us.

I found a video of the Borla XR1's off the headers.
I'm going to be changing back to the Magnaflows this week to quiet it down a little more. I will get a video of those also.

And yes I scrape the mufflers occasionally but I have an Eibach drag launch kit on it so the rear sits pretty high.

I have the same set-up, talk about cheap lol!

Here's a couple pics of my setup. Installed on Friday (23rd), but anyways, they're just some sort of cheap glass-pack off of the collector w/o turndown. It definatly has the sound, but at WOT, good god it's loud. Don't know if turndowns or better mufflers would help. Just wanted something cheap incase I didn't like it. So far so good.
