25.X Chassis cert
What all is involved? i read the NHRA rules but don't know if i need a 25.4 or a 25.5
Car has stock floor pan, and stock firewall, appx 3500lb race weight.
How much should a it cost to have the appropriate cage get a 25.5 chassis cert?
This is my first full racecar, thanks guys.
does it have to be a 4 link car? or can it retain the stock suspension?

25.5 will cert you to 8.50 (3600 lb maximum). To go faster you need 25.2 but you have to be 3200 lbs or less.
It can be stock suspension. Plenty of them built on this site. As far a cost...be ready to open your wallet

1 of you is wrong ,1 is 1/2 correct,
to 8.50 is a regular cert,
to 7.50 is a 25-5 up to 3600lbs ,can be mild steel or chrome moly,
to 6.00 is a 25-2 up to 3200lbs,and has to be all chrome moly
[Jay,s car was a 25-2 stock floor pan f body]
the above certs are for stock type car,s round tube cars are different certs like 25-1,e,d, and so on,

wow, thats about 3k more than i was expecting........ looks like i'll have to stick with my 10 point and when of if i ever go faster than 8.50's i'll have it done.... i really liked the idea of the added safety even if i didn't do it.
Madman, is there anything (legal) between a 25.X cert and a 10 point

as long as it has all the needed connections/tubing size/thickness, etc. for a 8.5 certed 10 pt, you can add a drivers halo, x braces and stuff to it I think and it will still be legal to 8.50, but in order to be legal to 7.50, there is a bunch of stuff it has to have, nrcbob or madman can tell you way better then I can explain it.
Can you convert a 10 pt to a 25.5? I think you can, but dependong on how the 10 pt was done it may or may not be possible though, I am not 100% sure.

Have you called any builder who does stock floor cars?? The time isnt putting the cage in its all the floor board work, plus the trans crossmember, seat mounts, r&r windows, fitting the dash , chute handle, etc. Call around I'm right there with the reputable chassis shops.
Hell I charge $3000.00 for a 10pt.

I think in the meantime i'm going to have to wait and save when i get close to reaching my cert limit i'll try and have it done.
Forget abou the 2-3k in steel what abou the hours spent welding, a local welding shop charges 125 an hour to tig, 200 if it's done outside their shop.
If you don't mind me asking madman how many hours does it take to weld in a 25.5 cage?
