Locker in a 12 bolt?
Change in turning (obviously) - But what I did to correct it is you can't be on the gas while turning. Its dis-engages when you turn which is fine but when you straighten out and you start to put force on the gas the car will steer to one side for a brief moment while its going back to a engaged (or locked) status. Takes a few times to get used to it. What I do is I go into a corner either in neutral or very light throttle. And won't hit the gas till I completely straight. Otherwise you get a loud "BANG" as the diff locks abruptly. Its kinda funny actually especially if its near people. Sounds like the rear just blew.
When entering or exiting on/off ramps I keep it at a part thorttle and hold it till I'm straight and the diff "locks" then I proceed to give it normal gas.
Un-even pavement (side to side) - Some times when I'm at a intersection and the light goes green I take off and the rear will engage real loud and I get that BANG again. I didn't turn but on you know on old roads they have the wear from the tires over time and there is a slight trench? That sometimes dis-engages the rear. Those still catch me off guard.
Parking lots - Most noticeable. I try and get enough momentum to coast into the space. You and anyone near your car will hear the rear clicking. Its a great topic to spark up conversation. lol. Or if you don't have enough speed to make it in the space, when you give it gas you'll get the inside tire to spin like you have a spool. No biggie.
In the rain - No real difference. I've driven it in a downpour with a locker, 4.56's, and nitto's and had no probs. Just gotta use your head. Same rules apply as above but error on the side of extra caution.
You can't hear it going straight and sometimes even in turns its quite. But after I mastered adjusting my habits its not a pain at all to drive it. But it makes me smile everytime I do a burnout at the track or on the street there is always 2 equal lines. That and knowing that I can dump the clutch at 7100rpms and know that my rear is going to hold. Hope this helps. -Mark
