Default wheels or heads for et gains???

i am getting ready to spend some more hard earned money on the car and was looking for track results from a set of ported heads(tsp,tea,ect..). all the post are dyno #'s and usually involve a cam swap as well.i have seen a few post claiming 2 or 3 tenths from drag wheels and tires. is this true??? i have a $2000 budget and want to make it worth my while.if i got heads it would take all the cash, but wheels and tires would let me do other stuff as well. i would like to be able to run 11.5x's in normal air.any opinions or actual track results appreciated

What wheels and tires are you using now? I can't see .4 from wheels alone unless you are on a street tire or a nitto.

stock wheels with mt dr's.i have been told that going to skinnys and a lighter 15' wheel is worth roughly 2 or 3 tenths.what i really want to know is how much a set of decent heads would knock off my et.everybody always post dyno #'s, i want track results(et or mph gained).the sponsers claim the "we usually see 50+ at the wheels",but i'm not buying that on my car

Go for the horsepower first, you can use that no matter what wheels are on the car. Wait for a deal on a set of wheels..

And you cant drop your 60' down to a mid 1.5X with your stall size and a pair of MT DR out back?? If you can get your 60' in that range the 11.5 might be yours all ready.

nope,i've tried just about everything off the line but still only mid 1.6's at best.i think the bilstein shocks i put on before i got hooked racing aren't helping me any.they handle well on the street though

I say the heads. you may see 30 hp or more, and thats going to result in at the least .3 at the track. And not to mention what waterbug1999 said you could be looking at a low 11

did you add heads and cam at the same time? if i could get a solid 3 tenths i would be sold but i wasn't sure if 25 or 30 hp would be enough.do you know what you picked up from the patriots?

I think you might want to work on your 60's problem. You should be mid to low 1.5X easy with a 4400 stall and some MT DR's.

If you can drop .1 or more off your 60', that should be close to your mid 11 sec pass (assuming you are 11.9 now) with nothing but some suspension work.

i've tried flashing the verter and stalling it up but it made little to no difference.i was assuming that the car wasn't making enough power to 60' any quicker or it is just too heavy(3675 raceweight). in the heat the car runs 12.0 to 12.1 at high 112's.in nice cool air it is consistant 11.9's(ranging from .92 to.98 at mid 113's)

Hmm.. With just a stall and exhaust I could get 1.6X's all day.

Well, then just get a set of heads and call it a day.. Just raise the CR up to ~11.1 to 11.5.1 so you wont leave any HP on the table.

No i didn't i did them together, so i guess i can't really say what was gained. But i can say my time in my sig. was on a 1.7 60ft if that helps anything.
