How good are the non-R QA1 shocks for drag racing?
I think I screwed up. I ordered QA1 single-adjustable front shocks (OED7855P) assuming the adjustment changed the ratio of compression to rebound. Now, looking at the force/velocity diagram, it appears that compression and rebound are always equal and the adjustment simply changes the shock from weak to stiff. I am wondering if I should have ordered the RC7855P because I wanted to start with the classic 90/10 rebound/compression ratio. How bad are the R-types on the street?

I am having a hard time deciding on the f series or the R. I still daily drive my car and want it to hold in a corner as well. For a daily driver would the F series be the best all around shock and still perform at the track?

Thanks, everyone. It appears from the responses that some are unaware that QA1 makes two very different types of single-adjustable shocks. I may regret not getting the R-type but have decided to keep the OED7855s. I'm guessing that my main benefit will come from slightly raising my ride height and, of course, this is possible with both types.

I have had the F-series for two years. I am now upgrading to the R-series as we speak because with the F-series the front end comes up fast, and then takes a nose dive at the track. I am going with the R-series to keep the weight tranferred to the rear as long as possible after launch. I have talked to other guys who DD their R-series with good results.

The F series shocks are a good start, my car regularly cut 1.3 60ft's using them and it went a 1.27 60ft on the back tires. I didn't upgrade to the R's until the front seals went from doing wheelies on launch to many times.

just to be sure I order the right ones can u tell me what part # to order?
OED7855P Front shocks - single adjustable $189.95 ea
DOE7855P Front shocks - double adjustable $339.95 ea.
RC7855P Front shocks - Drag Race "R" $199.95 ea.
15FB275 275 lb. front spring - recommended for drag racing $59.95 ea.
15FB300 300 lb. front spring - recommended for street and strip $59.95 ea.
15FB325 325 lb. front spring - recommended for handling $59.95 ea.
I got this off BMRs site, I plan on doing a complete front end switch. with a new K member and new a arms, I am going to go ahead and do the shocks also.
I drive the car on the street but not as a daily driver, I would like to beable to but its not my primary car. I can put up with alot of little quirks if I have to so would the RC7855p be fine? and what springs?
Thanks in advance I plan on ordering this week.

What is about the R series that makes them not let the front of your car slam down like the F series. I just got off the phone with a dealer who sell them and he told me I would not like the R because my front would be bouncing around more on the street hitting bumps, etc. He said I should go with the F ? I am realy up in the air now about which ones to buy and I am ready to buy right now.

they wont come down as fast because you can adjust both rebound and compression....
side note.........i have the 8 way single adjustable ones on all 4 corners of my car, how should i be setting them up for best results on the track (i currently dd them on the middle setting and have been leaving them there at the track.... im cutting 1.75 60's and want to get that down
