Default What battery do you all run?

I'm tired of this garbage optima red top, it fully took a **** on me tonight (has been replaced before and has been tested before and told that it's fine, which is bullshit)! All my connections are perfect, have a 1/0 wire to front and from batt to kill switch, 1/0 wire for ground right to frame rail, and 4 gauge wire for alternator to kill switch. Tonight the batt totally stopped holding charge, got to a meet, was there 10 minutes and batt was already dead and could not start even with jump box (not enough I guess). I had my fiancee come with jumper cables and hooked 'em to her f150 and she started right up beautifully and once running is perfect as well (couple month old 170 amp alternator). So anyways, which battery do you guys recommend for running in the back, i'm gonna go out and buy a new one and swap it out tomorrow!

Sorry, I forgot to mention i'd prefer to have a gel/dry cell type battery since it's in the car (even though it's in a sealed/vented box, i'd just rather not have to worry about cleaning up nasty **** build up on the terminals and ****, my stock battery used to get pretty nasty).

I know the local speed shop sells the Odyssey batteries, has anyone on here used the full size one?

Optima Red Top mounted in front, 160A alternator, upgraded wiring - have had the battery installed for 3 years now with no problems. The car is stored all winter with trickle charger.

Yeah, I brought it in to get tested and they did an entire, test/recharge and said it was fine, but it's obviously not.

i had the same issuewith my red top. two of them!!!

i got a napa 6 pack style, andit was mint. its sealed, and looks like the optima, but its a different company, they had them right at the store by my house.

i used the same thing in b-mans car.
then i desided to loose about 70 pounds and i ditched the battery in the trunk 40 pounds, all the cable 20 pounds, the brackets andswitch10 pounds, and i got the small odisy batt about 5 pounds or so. mounted it right up front in the stock location. i did this with b-mans car. mine is on the other side.
it works the *****.

On recommendation from a buddy I got the odyssey pc1200, gonna go put it in and give it a try. It's a little smaller and lighter than my optima and hopefully a million times better!

OMG, this battery is badass, I haven't had this much starting power since the car was stock (even when the optima worked, you could hear it was straining and if the car didn't start as quickly as it does it probably wouldn't have had enough juice to keep goin)!!! And it charges back up almost instantly after starting! Hopefully it stays good like this!

I've had a yellow top since 2004 with no problems. I keep a battery tender on it all the time while stored. When I ran the car I would charge between rounds. Never had any problems with it.
