I think i've decided on what i'm going to go with...

What is the longest you guys would drive with these seats? Is a 2 hour trip out of the question?

my argument is that unless you have exhausted all other options is that 4lbs worth your safety. After seeing a local guy crash last year and become paralyzed even with a cage, I just think that safety should not be taken lightly. If he can have that happen, why risk it for a 4 lb weight savings. Id just go for a run in the morning and lose the 4 lbs myself. Just my .02 sorry if I offended anyone.

apparently swiss cheesing allows for weight reduction while keeping the seat rigid. My seat will be braced against the crossbar behind it.

+1 for the inquiry. Would you guys drive 2+ hours to the track in these things?

Nobody drives far to the track in these things? How are they for about a 2 hour drive?

I had a Kirkey Drag seat in my Mustang which was my daily driver and didn't bother me one bit.

Carlos, to quote Roy D. Mercer, "How big a boy are ya?" Just trying to see if my 6'4" 215 lb *** will be okay.

I have the Kirkey drag seats, 17" wide I think. Pretty comfortable but I wish I could have the seat be adjustable...

I went for a cruise and went to a car show last weekend in my 17 inch prostreet seat... sat in the car for a 1/2 hour before anyone started getting to the car show, and it was fine. I'm 6'3 275, and fit in it no problem.

What brackets are you guys using? I'm hung up on buying them because i can't get someone to post pictures or tell what brackets they are using for the Kirkey's.

Removing weight is almost always much easier on the check book than adding power. Most aluminum seats have plenty of material that can be removed safely.

If done correctly swiss cheesing can be done without compromising rigidity or strength. In some race cars, trucks and crawlers, where weight was an issue, I have cut and flared holes in frame channels to ADD stiffness. It's supprising how much stiffness flared holes in the right places can add...On the other hand, flaring holes in some aluminum can be tricky.

I'm looking at the Kirkey's also. I Just took my interior out today. That carpet is heavy. Seats too. I think Madman advertised brackets for these seats?
