Default Cheapest way to 10's

I want to hear from everyone on what their route would be to get a low 10 or high 9 second 1/4, for the least amount of money. My few parameters would be $2,000 or less and street legal. Its tough to argue with the Rx-7 swap, but im thinking there are other alternatives. Maybe a gutted 3rd gen camaro + nitrous? G-body, built motor and even more spray? 2nd or 3rd gen supra or talon? Afterall, theres more than one way to skin a cat. This thread is meant for fun and getting ideas out.

2000 total? I don't know that you're going to get there for only 2g's. If you're talking on top of the price of the car, tires, suspension, stall, and 300 shot progressive. There is a guy in AZ that had this setup for a while and his car was ridiculous. Rearend is a ticking timebomb though.

best thing would be a 8.8 hybrid rear end...with 4.10, and a 200 shot

can be done with 2 grand, but you'll be looking for used this and that to get there, and as mentioned it may not be the most reliable set-up in the long run.

I'd go spray with the supporting mods, check out the nitrous section for ideas.

If I could hook I should be close. I wanted to try it with the stock exhause manifolds and cats but I had to put the headers on to clear the bellhouseing. So I am thinking with the headers and the suspession mods I made this year I should be there. I still havent touched the motor just a big shot of n2o It should all be comeing off the car at the end of the year if it last that long

.

Safety stuff will be over $2000. How in the hell do u expect to buy a car, build it, keep street legal (more weight) and run lo 10's or 9's. Slicks, cage, net, belts, ect ect.

no way are you going to run 10's in a talon for 2G's Maybe if you put a 4G63 into a old school colt. If I was low on funds I would do the colt 4G63 swap. If you have the time to wait for parts to come up cheap and do the work your self you would be pretty close with the colt.

2Gs or less for low 10s high 9s not going to happen sorry thats just the way it is. As stated before the saftey stuff will cost more then that, remember after 11.49 you will need at least a 5 point rollbar to be legal and I believe at 9.99 goes up to a 10 point and both are not very cheap things unless you are a very good welder and buy a kit from wolfe and install it yourself but then it also has to pass NHRA specs and they will check you welds and etc. Then weight reduction is not always cheap actually it gets reall expensive. I would say to not waste the 2G trying to go 10s half assed just wait and save you money and do it the right way.

I think it is funny how all you guys are saying loose stall and lots of juice. Kind of an oxymoron. The nitrous would blow through the loose verter.

But back on subject, if the car and power train are not included in the equation, then I suppose it can happen. No stock trans can handle that except maybe a T-56, but then the rear would go. Both over 2k to build. So if we are just talking HP$, then it is pretty easy. Cam, nitrous and gut the bitch.
