"Cross Bars" vs. single Door Bar?
Anyways, I was working on the chassis of my race car today. I cut, notched, and tacked in the regular door bars. While I was at it I fabbed up the upper section to utilize a "Cross Bar" setup.
My question is, what is the advantage of using a cross bar setup? Just chassis strength, or is it more safe as well?
Also is their a time/bracket that requires this type of design?
Strength, stiffness, and better protection from a side impact. After seeing the Bruce Allen crash, I'm adding a bunch of bars to my slow car. Fast car is already 6.0 certed. If you're not worried about weight, too much. put the X in, and maybe a F/C cage or a partial F/C cage to protect your head & neck. Good luck.
