Question about gearing for 1/4
Just curious, what's your power curve looking like. I'm getting ready to switch gears as well and am probably settling on 4.30's because of my engine making max power up around 6800. I'd really like 4.56's but I'm afraid I might run out of gear just before the traps. I'm scared of turning much more than 7000 RPM.

I'm not sure what my power curve looks like, I've yet to get on the dyno with my new motor.
X= 4.27
6800/6200=Y/3.73
Y= 4.09
I would go with 4.10 or 4.11 depending on your options.
4.10/3.73=Z/6200
Z=6815

RPM / rear gear / tranny ratio(omit of 1:1) / 336 * tire size = SPEED
6700/3.89/1/336*27=138.404 MPH
or if you know you MPH you wanna hit
rear gears*tranny*speed/tire size*336=RPM
3.89*140/27*336=6777.24 RPM
hope this helps ya its how i picked my 3.89s and my 27in slicks for my 6900RPM red line
An old guy told me once, if you need bigger gears, you just aint got enough motor. **** im switching to 3.08's from my 3.42's this winter
