The 1870s are gone. I plenty of the "NEW" 3870s in stock.

Sure can. It’s not just sales stuff! The shock actually has a smaller tube inside the body that the piston rides on. This design is used to separate the oil from the low pressure gas chamber to allow the shock to be mounted up-side down and makes the valving more responsive. The other design is the mono-tube shock. The piston rides on the inside of the body. This shock must have a high pressure gas charge to make it work.
I protoyped the shocks on Coleman Roddys camaro. The car is a consistent 1.26 60ft and runs 9.40s at 140mph in the heat. On the front we were able to loosen the limiters one hole and use the shock to control wheelstanding. I also am using them on Bradys Team Madman drag radial car and they are on the Outlaw Drag Radial Mustang we won World Ford Challenge with. We are finding the new stuff has alot more finer tuning.

Are the AFCO double adjustables TRULY independant between compression and rebound?
I have QA1 double adjustables (front & rear) and with some recent testing I've done in the garage have discovered they are NOT independant even though they were advertised as such.
I was quite surprised how much the compression circuit bleeds over and tightens the rebound as you tighten the compression. With my car I run the compression (front shocks) very stiff to soften the landing from a wheelie and use the rebound to control the speed of the rise and also to some degree the wheelie height. On bad tracks I need to soften the rebound, but it never goes really soft even on zero with the compression set at 24 (max stiff). I have to loosen the compression to help loosen the rebound which sucks in a way.
I've had thoughts of selling off the QA1's and switching to the AFCO's with the BNC valving. Car is a '79 Malibu which I believe uses the #8740 shock.
Also, IMO the QA1 valving resolution between setting is way too fine. I have to move the adjuster some 4 clicks to really see a noticable difference.

It is truly independent adjustments. This is the reason I dont use the QA1 when I want a double adjustable. When QA1 went to the doubles they used the same body and shaft in the shock. There isnt enough room in the shock to get a good valve in there.
The AFCO number would be a 3840. I can get them built with whatever valving we decide.

Thanks Madman.
I was going to buy shocks for all 4 corners at the killer price but after seeing the info on the new shocks I figured it would be better to wait. I like the new "click" feature.
Putting in a lot of OT this week, hope to place my order with you guys when I get home.
