Default Tire Clearance

I just installed my new bogarts today and I had to do a little clearancing for the 27in Hoosiers to fit. They never rubbed but I just wanted to get some more distance between the wheel well and the tire but my question is how much room is enough. I got about a 1/2in all the way around. Is this enough? I took it out for a drive but didn't get crazy till I found out what people recommend as far as clearance.

Safe clearance....since no one else has an idea, I'll tell you mine. Less than a 1/4" to the LCA, 1/2" on inter fender wells. I have very little to no rub. BUT my suspension is set hard as a rock with DR that do not grow.

I'd say depends on your suspension set up. Does the car "squat" at all? I hope not. You are going to have to be the judge. Mount them up and take it out and try it. That is the only way you will know for sure.

The car doesn't squat at all. The rear just plants when I dump the clutch. I will just go out this weekend and give it a try. I will probably try to clearance it some more just to be safe. I appreciate the reply.

I ran the 27x11 qtp on bogarts and never had a problem with them rubbing at all, with no mods to the car at all. I now have a 275/60/15 radial, (about the same as a 28x10 but doesn't grow at all) and that clears, the rubber that piled up on the inner rear bumper cover rubed off one run, so I have to try to keep that clean, or take a little bit of it off to be safe, but other then that they don't hit anywhere.

I'f you have adjustable control arms, just make sure the tire is centered in the wheelwell, and make sure the rear is centered side to side with the panhard bar (also make sure rear is set up square) and it should clear no problem.

fwiw I ran the tires from 11 to 14 psi, and was trapping around 123 mph with them, and they never grew enough to rub. if you're trapping alot higher then that, you may have something to worry about..... but it would probably take 130+, in that case the tire probably isn't really enough in the first place.

Humm not really sure what I will be trapping this year. I am hoping to trap in the 130mph range. I will definitly keep an eye on it and check all the measurements on the rear. Thanks for the reply. I most run the 1/8th but occisonally go to the 1/4mile

I run 315/35/17 on 11 inch rims. I was surprised to find BFG DRs were wider than Nitto 555Rs in the same size. All I got to say is beat the hell out of the shiny spots until it gives up then hit it again Till you get at least 3/8s clearance. Then everything was ok.
