SFI Balancers Discussion
SFI Balancers Discussion What is available and what do they weigh? From what I know the three options are the new ASP, the expensive ATI, and the CAT balancer which I know nothing about. I would prefer the lightest SFI approved balancer available.

Re: SFI Balancers Discussion I've got one sitting here from Powerbond. It is a 10% underdriven pulley and is SFI approved. It weighs ~10lbs which is 2lbs lighter than stock. It is a very nice looking piece. I got mine from Jegs but, I think Thunder Racing might be carrying them soon also. It's rebadged as a JEGS balancer in there catalog. It also has a keyway cut in it if you want to get the crank keyed. It's alot cheaper than the ATI and comes with the A/C pulley groove(which you probably don't care about

Re: SFI Balancers Discussion It all depends on what you want it for. The ATI is the best at absorbing crankshaft harmonics and if you've got to put one on it's the way to go. As far as weight the ATI might be heavier but harmonics will kill more HP than the rotating mass of the balancer.
Re: SFI Balancers Discussion The ATI is pretty expensive considering my ASP has done me well so far. I just need something that is SFI approved and good quality at this point. If the ASP does a great job at $200, i don't want to pay $400+.

I would contact ASP and see if they could do something for you, since you currently have one of their balancers. Maybe they'll hook you up on an exchange or something... It's worth a try.
