well all u big spenders heres my set up

1 02 2500 HD ECSB 6.0L truck
1 H&H 18 ft tilt trailer
1 truck bed tent
1 used old futon mattress in truck bed
1 dollar general cooler fill with beer

now thats racing!!!!

I just like saying the word foooooton, I wanted to name my first kid futon but my wife wouldnt let me

I agree that is racin.

We have a 28ft tag trailer & a 28ft open trailer with a box. The last 2 years I always pulled the enclosed trailer & "FEAR" always complained about how bad of gas mileage we got, 10 mpg with a loaded enclosed to the 15 or 16 mpg with the open trailer. This year we have been using the open trailer(we have only been to 2, 3 day races this year and I have been able to stay in a buddy's motor home). It just saves money. As many races we run we need all the help we can get.

No doubt about the open trailer being better on gas, not to mention you can tow one with a 1500 pickup or SUV no problem.

True. I don't want to spend more than I have to. I'd rather be racing and there is always room for improvement on the race car rather than wasting money going overboard on equipment.

Trailer racing and drag racing are two different things, I'd rather have the crappiest tow setup and a good running car then be one of the guys that pulls up with a 500K tow rig and cant make it down the track

But if you got the money to have both why not..

I am still trying to figure out how my setup is going to be in the "big spenders" area

I drive my truck every day. We towed 800 Miles one way for a race and got 13-16MPG. the 13MPG was bucking a 60MPH head/cross wind in the mountains.

Main reason I would like a closed trailer is is rains a little here in the Seattle area.

i love seeing that, i went to oklahoma last year with a buddie from work that runs 7s this big semi trailer maching shirt crew hopped out and couldnt make it down the track and when they did it was 2 sec slower that there feild i LMFAO for sure

I went to a race in atlanta a few years ago and used a buddy's enclosed trailer. I pulled it with my 4.8 Silverado. Man was it a pain. That truck was strugling but it made it. I had to drive down 24 from mid TN and go over the mountains. There were times where I had it to the floor the whole time and was preying I didn't have to slow down for any reason. Also every time a car drove by big or small it would make the truck start swaying back and forth. It was scary. I will not be getting an enclosed trailer for sure until I have a bigger truck to pull it with.

I think in the end that less is more. We're going from a motorhome/30 ft enclosed to a Silverado and 32 ft. Enclosed, in the new trailer we're going to build in a shower so we can sleep in there no problem. Then when we take both cars I'm going to pull my 18 ft. open trailer with an Escalade and see how that works.

Our buddy went from a 50 ft. 5th wheel and a big ole Ford dually and he just got burnt out on the travel and taking care of things, he ended up selling everything and laying off for a year and a half. He came back last weekend with his new car and a 18 ft. open trailer with his 1500 Silverado and I swear he had more fun than he has in years.

There's also a guy that's a 3 time Hot Rod world champ and runs a ton of races, he has always had an open trailer behind a somewhat older Ford truck and stays in a hotel.

I have a 3500 1 ton chev. cargo van. Everything stays inside and dry and leaves plenty of sleeping room. I'm getting ready to see how she hauls the trailer.It started as an RC car racing hauler for me an my son as we race 3 different classes of RC cars and it takes alot of stuff to stay competitive and running for a 2 day race. I'm starting the process to see how she hauls a real car. Plenty of room, but i'm concerned about the sway effect with single rear wheels hauling 5000 lbs(car and trailer). You can pick up these vans cheap as a nice alternative to a truck.

The van will tow an open trailer no problem, I used a 3/4 ton chevy van and an open trailer for a while. It had two rows of rear bench seats folded into a giant bed and screens on the sliding side windows. Didnt have any other camper-like stuff and worked out perfect.

I have a single rear wheel 2500HD pickup and it tows a 26' 8000+ lb enclosed with no problem at all.
