Default alignment specs?

hey guys,
I'm pretty much a total n00b when it comes to suspension set-up. I have been doing some research, but I'm hearing different things from different people on how to set my car up. I was wondering what you guys shoot for as fas as front toe, camber, caster, yadda, yadda. I have an '01 Camaro, nothing really super adjustable in the front; the rear has adj. lca's and panhard ( from madman). I just want to get it set-up before I hit the track. I know some of the way the bad boy's set their cars up are "secrets," I'm just looking for some helpful advice and a general direction.

Thanks!

-Jed

You’re not so much of a noob as you think. Caster and camber are probably the bad boys’ biggest secrets. Drag racing is all about getting from point A to point B in the shortest possible time and that means following a straight line. If your cas or cam are off even a fraction of a degree your car will want to deviate from the best path and that costs time – not a lot, but milliseconds matter. I wish I could be more helpful, but I’ve been trying to find answers to your questions myself. Maybe one of the BBs will chime-in and throw us a tidbit.

0 camber, as much caster as you can get and set toe where the tires never toe out thru the suspension travel.

^+1. I set my caster all the way back and set my toe in 1/16" on each side. Makes the car wanna only go straight. If its more of a street car then try setting the cas a little bit back from center. Farther the cas goes back the harder it is to turn the wheel. -Mark

I have actually jacked the front of the car up a bit on the alignment rack to mimic hard acceleration, then adjusted cas, cam, and toe. And don't ignore the thrust angle.

With the stock rack i usually have to go 1/8 or to-in static to keep some toe in at full extension and compression, -.5 to zero camber (positive camber will really make the car feel loose) and as Madman stated as much caster as you can crank in - but make sure both sides are even on the caster. +3 on both sides will drive better then +4 on one side and +5 on the other.

The rear end being square in the car and both slicks having the same diameter is pretty important as well
