Default Drilling harness tabs?

Hey guys-

Just bought a set of RJS camlock harnesses for my 93 TA. The factory seat belts are out of the car completly and i planned on using the stock seat belt mounting points/bolts for the lap belts. The factory bolts of course, have to big of a shoulder to fit in the hole of the RJS harness.

What have you guys done to get around this? Im sure the first thing to mind is just drill the hole out a bit bigger but is that legal? Would it pass tech? Im sure it would but when It comes time to send the harnesses back to get re-certed would they fail them because of that?

Did you guys just buy new bolts? Just looking to find the easiest method to get them bolted in.

Thanks in advance

Joe

I just drilled out the tab. Not sure if it's legal or not.

I used a die grinder on mine. They passed Tech just fine. I used the same tabs for over six years on different belts

BTW When my car was certified they passed the belts mounted in stock location

Technicaly not legal but mine always passed tech. Mine were to hard to drill so I used the die grinder method. I can't imagine any company would recert and re date the belts with the mounting tab holes opened up.

The only thing SFI certified is the webbing and latch assembly

When they certified my car to 8.50 a few weeks ago they said stock locations were not a problem with our 4th gen's We did add mounts to the cage for the outter belt mounts

Ok, Ill prolly end up doing this then guys.

One more thing, I guess this means you all mount yours flat with the floor? I only ask because I happened to look on the back of RJS' box and it shows a picture and says the lap harnesses should be mounted vertically. I see thunder/summit/etc sell some kind of bracket that the harnesses attach to. Do you guys run these or just bolt em to the floor?

Personally I don't modify something designed to save my life. Go to the bolt store, buy the right bolts and 4 of these:

Used a Dremel with a little sanding drum for about 3 min on each tab and the fit just fine. Never had a problem at tech.
