stick cars rarely ever do well with teh radials. if they do, they would run better with the bias ply tire.

on an automatic or a well setup transbraked powerglide car, they haul ***.

DR to DR, I've had better luck with Hoosiers over MT's on stick cars.

This might sound backwards, but even with a stick car I've had better luck with the radials than the bias ply M/T's. Maybe it has something to do with the suspension setup?

It's about 50/50 as to what guys recommend on this site. I went with 28" M/T ET Streets.

Just to update I managed a best of 1.69 60' on the radials yesterday but its not easy.... Very tricky to launch well with these I had to jack the LCA angle up by swapping rear springs so much so the car looks ghey now but its hooking. I also blew them off for 6 passes or so and bogged it out twice trying to find the sweet spot. Out of ten attempts I only made two with 1.69+1.7 60's

I had to lower psi to 15 and now I'm spinning the wheels inside the tires. All in all a pain in the ***.

***EDIT*** Oh ya.... ten second burnouts worked best for me

i got a set on my car right now 275/60/15, iv ran them the last to thursdays. last thrusday i let tires to 16psi, and did john force burn outs, and side step the clutch at 5500 and the car pick the wheels 6in and boged. so i got new respect for these tires in a 6speed. im not sure if there hooking like that cause there wore slap out or what lol

cam, first what you need are LCA relocation brackets - dont jack the car up. two, i have never felt a big burnout benefited me. in fact it slowed me down. i have literally gone up to the line with no burnout at all and gone low 1.4 60'

the big burnouts made the tire "greasy"

Gator I hear ya. Set up is;

400rwhp LS1 ( guessing no dyno stg 2 heads tr 224 LT's LS6 intake )
t56 w LS7 clutch
8.8 Ford rear end with 3.73
Spohn adjustable torque arm -3.5 deg pinion angle
LCA reocation brackets ( lowest hole )
Eibach Sportline springs w GR2 shocks/struts
dropped front sway bar

With the Eibachs the LCA angle was perfectly level with the arms bolted into the lowest hole on the relocation brackets. I went to the track and had two cameras rolling on the 20 or so passes I made. The rear was not planting but winding up into the wheel wells and blowing the tires off bad. I figured I needed more LCA angle and seeing as I had no more room to adjust I cut one coil off a pair of stock rear springs and threw them in. It raised the rear about an two inches and it looks chez but I now have some LCA angling downwards at the rear. I went back to the track and tried the same things as before starting at 20 psi blowing off bad. Dropped to 17 and bogged. Raised launch RPM and blew them off. Increased burnout time substantially and started to hook pulling a 1.77 60' so starting to work. Dropped psi to 15 and again long burn out. Dropped 60' to 1.69 my best that day so I dont know what to tell ya? Low psi and long burnout was working although my last pass I did a long burn out and raised launch RPM to *gulp* 7K and spun the wheels inside the tires netting a 1.8X 60' but equal to my best time of 12.2 @ 114

I'm going down again soon so I can update if y'all like. I'm willing to try anything to improve and I have been dilligent in attempting different launch RPM and tehnique to see what works and what doesnt. So far thats the best I've managed

not doughting you on that man. but like that say what works for one person maynot for another. i tried light burn outs and all it whould do is spin, so i tried a real big one and it picked the tires up and boged the car lol

My experience is that there is to fine of a line between spinning and bogging for the drag radials. I am currently still running them and have gone 1.59's on them . I think you will do good with them on a car that has a clutch that can be slipped a little. My spec 3+ will not allow me to slip it. where as my spec 3 did. Now that I am running a 3+ clutch I bogg every pass after it pulls the wheels 6" or so , it falls on its face.

If I can get it to spin just a little the next time out by going up on air psi I think it will do better. I switched to a spool from an eaton Posi and also back to 4.10 gears instead of the 4.30's, so i dont know what to expect.

Back when I had the spec 3 though, The best I could do on a 26x11.5x16 et street was 1.63 and went to consistent 1.59-1.62 60 ft's with a 255x60x16 drag radial . It is more in the setup.
