Default nitto drag radial question

i've been to the track before, but with an A4 and street tires. well, now i have an M6 and i will using a pair of nitto's in the rear.

my question is simple...whats the best way to clean them off(burnout, or just turn them over a bit) and what RPM would i be safe launching at to get good traction.

the car is just a full exhaust LS1...

thanks guys

Try between 17 and 20 PSI first. You should be good somewhere in that range, adjust as necessary.

Nitto's need to get really hot and generally suck where I race. Hopefully the track crew at the water box will guide you up to the edge of the water closest to the tree. Begin your burnout, 1st is enough, but 2nd works too, keep it at about 4500 RPM. With a line-lock it's simple, but you didn't say that you had one. I don't do a burnout without one because you will have to dump the clutch and immediately get on the brake so you can stay in the water. Maybe you can do this, but I refuse to wear my brakes and possibly smoke the clutch.

Once you see white smoke, 5-7 seconds into the burnout, let off the brake, and you'll begin to move forward while burning out.

Get out of it once you feel the tires starting to hook or you are getting to close to the tree. No need to do a 400 ft. John Force burnout.

A good 2500k clutch slip has worked the best for me. But we're down on power alot up her at this high altitude.

DR's are much more enjoyable on the track than a street tire. Have fun!

so rather than skipping the water box, i should burnout IN the waterbox? and no, i dont have line lock

mercy no, don't burnout IN the waterbox (you'll wind up with water in the fenderwell and it's apt to drip down and re-wet your tires) .. just pull through and there will be plenty of water on them to get your tires spinning and like joblo said .. spin out of the burnout. This is so you wind up on DRY ground but now you have hot, DRY, sticky tires

I always suggest to pull AROUND the box, and then back into it, roll your tires through enough water so theyre >50% wet, pull out and then do the burnout right in front. You dont want water on your front tires peeling off and leaving a nice tread pattern for your back tires to be running on when going down the track.

^^ that would be ideal .. but the one track we have in our area that you don't have back in, you have to drive through .. there is no way to avoid the water.

That would be ideal, but if everyone did that, the night would take forever, fans would get bored, not everyone would get as many runs is, so just roll through like everyone else.
