Default Help looking for the right tire and size for track use

I have a a4 w/ a 4k yank, 3.90 gears, H/C. I'm being doing some research and I'm seeing that people are going with the Mt radials for autos. I've had some 26s on a 15x8 rims and a 16x8. The best I mustard up was a 1.61 60. What will be a good size tire and which one. I was thinking a 15x8 draglite with 27in et streets? Or should I use mt radials?

275/50/15 MT Drag Radials. Regular bias-ply ET Streets aren't as good, and your results won't be as consistent. Either the DRs or a full ET Drag.

I agree with Matt, either a full et drag, or the et radial. FYI, a 275/60 is about the same size as a 28 inch et drag, and will fit without much clearancing at all, just a little in the front on the bottom and you'll be good to go. The raidal also doesn't require as much room around the tire because it won't grow like the bias ply tire.

What are you shifting at? That is one of the main factors in determining the size.

A 275/50 m/t radial mixed with a good suspension should work fine for you.

Honestly I've don't really go to track often, but now that I'm getting new H/C setup and moser 9" installed I'll be going more often. I haven't checked what were my shift points. I guess still kind of newbie.

Do they make size like that for a 10in? Wouldn't I need to go with a 325/50/16?

they tread with is 10.4 and the side wall is 11.3 on that 275/50/15. It will go right on a 10" rim.

they don't make a 325 in a 16, but even in a 15, thats way more tire then you need right now. Getting a 325 on your car is also going to take some work to fit.

Had to spend money on other **** so I'm going to have to go with a 16in rim. For the MT radials there is a 255/50 size wheel. ET streets they are a 26in or 28in. Would it be too much tire if I go with a 28in? I'm installing new H/C setup, 4k stall, and 9in with 3.90 gears. Should be making 400-450rwhp and occasionally be spraying a 100 hit.

when I was running 26 slicks I had both ET streets and ET drags and I pulled the same 60ft. with both sometimes better with the ET streets and I launch with a stick .Your best bet would be switching to a 27" or 28" slick. It doesnt take a ton of work to make the 28" slicks fit , you just need the right backspacing on the rims you choose.

I had some MT 255/50/16 ET streets on the stock rims and they pulled a few high 1.6's and lots of low 1.7X 60fts but they dont last long, I have Nitto 555R DR's 315/35/17 on the ZR1 rims and I have goten low 1.7 60's on them and I can drive them in the rain and they will last a lot longer. So no wheel changing for me, I just need some skinnies up front for a little more improvement, the ZR1 wheels are pretty heavy.

27x10.5x16 ET Street. Unfortunately MT does not make a 27" tall tire in a 16" size in their ET Drag line. If you're dead set on 27" that would be your best route. Me personally, I hate ET Streets and would run a Hoosier 28x10x16. That is part # HOO-18153.

hoosier makes a QTP that is a 27 inch tall tire, they make then in a 10.5 and a 11.5 inch width. 15 inch rim though.

I'd highly suggest you bite the bullet and get a set of 15 inch rims, it will amke your life a TON easier with tire choices, not to mention they will work alot better
