Default Brake lights come on in between shifts?

I have an M6 car and I've seen this happen to other f-bodies, but my friends are telling me mine does it now. What causes this? I apologize if I am in the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure where to ask this question.

I haven't looked under the dash of an M6 in a while but it could just need an adjustment of the brake light switch. It's attached to a bracket and has a button that hits the shaft on the brake pedal. This is just a guess that the clutch and brake use the same bracket and when you press teh clutch it might move the brake slightly and the button is moved enough to light up the brake lights. Just go under there and tighten the gap between the switch and the shaft on the brake pedal (it's easily adjustable) and see if that eliminates the problem...

My friends tell me my car does the same thing. Anyone figured out what causes it yet? It's only when I floor it though, not when I daily dive.

you're hitting the pedal with your leg, pants, side of your shoe, etc. I've gone thru this with 2 people, put your foot over to the right more, alot more, and keep your left foot more towards the kick panel, and see if it continues.

I will try that but I still don’t think I am hitting the brake pedal. I did a search last night and there are a lot of threads on this subject but no one really figured out what causes it.

wrong.....not in every case

Mine does it too, but its the switch itself.

If I back the car out of my shop, and get out my brake lights on. If I jiggle the pedal it sometimes comes off, sometimes takes a few pumps. I don't even have to touch the brake for it to come on, if I floor it in 1 gear, it has come on during accelerate, before I even attempt to hit the clutch....

ive have seen this with 03 cobras as well.
not all mustangs in general.
seen the brake lights come on some new shelbys too.
i dont know if it is the foot hitting the pedal or not. its highly possible.
could it be the shock of the pedal assembly manipulating the brake switch?

Ha, same thing happened to me. Who knows what the hell. I think it has something to do with shifting hard.

Hopefully going to the track sunday so I'll let you know if it happens again.

That would be funny seeing some 9-10 sec runs in a car with the brake lights coming on every shift..

confuse the hell out of people

Anyone found an answer to this yet? It's bugging the heck out of me. My buddy said my brake lights were on for the majority of the time through 1 and 2 gear execpt for the shifts when I was at WOT. Really weird.

this is just a guess. on my third gen pedals, there was a brace that come off the brake bracket to help with the gas pedal for extra stability. i ended up cutting it off when i did manual brakes to save a pound.
i wonder when youve got it matted so hard to the floor that it tweaks the brace just enough to cause the brake light switch to come on. those things are touchy.
