Default Snapped my Spohn TA today

We were up at Norwalk for our club thing. Track was awesome! Tried a 4000rpm dump and bogged. Next time around a 600 rpm drop and wham. Torque arm broke right up front. This is the old style arm that slid into a sleeve mounted to the cross-member. Guess it's good it broke now instead of the shootout.

Didn't even get to try the direct port

That sux Todd. Which style are you going with now? That's cool it broke before the shootout. I'm looking forward to seeing you run.

Damn, just imagine what would have happened at 6000 rpms! lol

I have heard a few of the older Spohn's breaking in the same point. He has a new design out that is much better.

His newer one is a hass man. Its beefy as hell. That is what I have. I had the old one too, and sold it for the new one.

There actually are three models. The latter two have the same basic geometry and setup but the front cross member is much nicer on the new ones. Less massive. Also you can now get them in Chromoly!!

Sorry to hear that it broke.

LOL Jason....little typo there

I am going to call Spohn this morning and see what they can offer. If they don't back up their product, then I won't buy another one from him. If I have to purchase a new one at full cost, I will prolly get a BMR or something.

Thanks Coach. I looked at Brian's setup on the web site. It looks beefy as all hell, but there seems to be little room for a traditional exhaust setup.

Any way, I just talked with Steve Spohn and he said he would take care of it for me. Gonna replace the old parts with new ones and I will be on the track again. Mad props to Steve Spohn

BMR also has a burly unit you can try if the MADMAN wont suit your needs and the Spohn breaks again.

Cheers,
Chris

I heard something bang on the 2nd launch I made. Thought it was the bump stop or something else.

When I went to the line the next time, bang again so I got out of it. I blipped the gas a few times and heard it bang each time, so then I knew it was the torque arm.

I was planning on running in the MN6 power adder, but not the brackets. I am too sleepy to be competitive there. I will leave that to you and the other ringers
