Member Mr_president switched frm some 27/11.50/15 qtps to some 28/10.50 stiff et drags.
He pulled the left front tire two or three inches and then spun with the qtps cutting 1.60s at best. Switched to the ET drags and hung them both 18" cutting 1.30s!!!!!!!!!!

On a good track I run the same with 11.5x28 QTPs and 10.5x28 ET drags and I switch them around often. I use the QTPs when I'm at an event that needs DOT tires, the ET drag is a better tire though when the track isnt perfect but I have run close to the same imes with them both so there isnt a huge difference.
The 11.5x28 QTP is close to the 10.5x28 ET drag in size, the QTP is a little narrower and shorter and doesnt require as much hammer work as the ET drag though. They recently redesigned the 11.5x28 QTP and improved it quite a bit, I thing the 11.5x27 is still the 'old' design.

ya if they are still the old design ill go with a 28" mt. i just wanted to try the 27 as it will take less work to get in under the car and i think it will be enough to get me thru the traps. but id rather do some more work for the bite.

I can tell you the 27x11.5 qtp is o.k.... but if you're making any decent power they may not be enough. I was making 440 thru the th400 last year and was just overpowering the tires off the transbrake.

im looking to make around 550rwhp and my car is fairly heavy. its a full weight car actually. so it looks like the m/t may be the way to go. and noticable diff in the stiff sidewall vesion? its a 6 spd car with a 2 step. i can get a pair of the normal ones dirt cheap right now off a guy i know and id be less worried to cut a used tire trying to find all the little spots that might rub.

I run both the normals or the stiffs, the stiff sidewall lasts a little longer but both 60 foot the same when new. If you can get some cheap I'd use them up..
A new M/T 10.5x28 will cut itself a little at 150mph on my car, takes a few burnouts before they stop rubbing even with a lot of hammering

why would you cut a tire? 28x10.5 fits fine with a stock wheelwell fbody.
