NHRA rules are factory tint only below 12.00 e.t.s I believe (I'll check the rulebook when I get home), but some tracks enforce this more than others. I've heard about quite a few footbrake races where no aftermarket tint is allowed period to monitor drivers to catch cheaters.
NMCA usually follows NHRA rules on safety stuff (unless racing an IHRA during an event, then I believe the IHRA rules apply).

If you are running in a real NHRA Lucas Oil or Powerade series then clear or factory tint is all thats allowed. Thats mainly a safety thing so the driver can be seen. Otherwise NHRA uses state/local tint laws as a guideline. Couple tracks around here are no-tint so the track guys can watch foot brake/no box guys like Derek mentioned.
