Default Painless wiring questions???

I have a 98TA and I was thinking about my winter projects. One thing I have considered is getting rid of all of the stock wiring and installing a custom harness using a painless setup and installing a switch panel. I remember reading about a few guys doing this. For those of you have, what kind of schematic did you use? Any tips, tricks, suggestions, etc...? Should I just go with the Speartech option? I haven't looked into Speartech yet but have read some posts about them. Also, what kind of computer management are you using? I had also thought about going with BigStuff or a FAST setup while doing this? Thanks for any suggestions.

Yeah, I saw his post and I have read it. I was hoping he would chime in here as well. I was just curious if anyone used a schematic or if they just started cutting and going at it. Thanks

I riped EVERY stock wire out of my car.
cut all the connectors for windows lights ect with about 3" of left over.

i got the painless kit (with a 98 computer) and ripped it all apart. i laid it out on my floor and folowed every wire i didnt need back to the computer conection, cut it and put a small piece of shrink wrap on it.
i ended up with wires to run just the motor.
i ran a wire to my starter and alt from the batt

from there i ran a main fused block into the car and begain to power all my switches (fans, fuel pump, lights, windows, nitrous, ect ect ect.) then ran all the accesories. it was alot of work, i mean alot, but i took a ton of time to do it, i soldered all the connections, no butt conectors or half *** stuff, and evrything worked first shot.

and man does it look nice!!

oh yea, i also reran alot of the wires so i could mount my coils and computer under the dash.
hope this helps

That helps alot. I just need to find a diagram that will tell me what each wire coming from the computer is. I also have a 98. I want to get that cleaned up over the winter and remove all of the unneccessaries!!! Do you remember which harness you ordered? Where did you get your fuse block?

the painless has all the wires labled.

i ordered threw jegs, i pretty sure it was part number 764-60506

i reused the fuse box on the side of my dash for some things, but my main power to the car i used a Big *** 80 amp fuse i got from a stereo place, then i got a block that went from one large feed to 4 small feeds (again from a stereo place) and tied all my poweres off that.

to hook up my factory switches for lights and windows ect. i just ohmed out the switches to see what wire did what, and went to town

So that painless kit comes with the PCM connections?? I didn't realize that. I figured it was just something that was spliced into place. Well, that really makes me want to do it now. Thanks for all of the help. I see what I will be doing over the winter.
