Get some 3.73's and a stall in that order. 1.7 60 ft times will be no problem then. I dont have a stall so I hit it with a shot off of the line. A 60rwhp off the line gets me a 1.80 - 1.90 60ft times. Im afraid to hit it with the 125rwhp off the line for fear of braking the rear end. I could probably dip into the 1.60's with that.

Could you work on that for me?

Ok so it sounds like you are still spinning? what are the reat of the numbers?

BTW I have done as well as 1.5x 60ft times with the front wheel off the ground on ET Street Radials 275/40-17s

The car isn't cutting good 60 foot times due to a couple of possibilities:

1-still spinning
2-a stock stall converter and/or low numerical gearing doesn't allow the car to get into the powerband early, thus the sluggish 60 foot times.

My Formula only goes 2.05 60 foot in the summer, and I know it hooks with the M/T sportsman pro tires I run. The stock converter and 3.23 gears in the rear end are the reason it's slow off the line.

As mentioned above, a gear swap and/or converter swap will help lower the times, but remember that it will also put more strain on those parts versus a stock set-up. The 10-bolt can use a girdle cover for added strength, and if your transmission has a lot of time on it, consider a rebuild or beefing up the internals before doing the converter.

Good luck!

Derek

what?
I was cutting 1.6 short times with a bolt-on car, 2800 vig and 3.23s

it takes more than a tire to make you hook, and foot braking and stalling to 1500 doesn't appear to work, you need to try different techniques until you find what works

if you have $ to spend a converter is an unbelievable upgrade
headers then gears imho

if you're not hooking you're not gonna break your 10-bolt.

I read somewhere that those clear altezza style taillights add .2 to your sixty
lol

Put a good torque converter in the car and you should easily be in that range. IMO, Vigilante 3200 along with shift kit and cooler, and I would throw on some lower control arms as well. If you have the stock 3.23 gear, I would just leave them.

here was my best run... ever

R/T -.076
60 2.083
330 5.8
1/8 8.817
mph 81.52
1000 11.442
1/4 13.659
mph 101.81

i figured the way i was launching was the best way... i figures considering how lengthy my burnouts were i wouldnt have to worry about spinning... but i think i may be spinning a tiny bit right off the line but im not certain to be honest... i kno i can buy a stall and some gears and i plan on it this winter but from wat i heard u can get these cars on DR's in the 1.8's - 1.9's all of my other runs were 2.1's except this one run... i dn maybe i should try launching at idle???

We really need to know if it's an issue of not enough power down low, which could be fixed with a stall or gear swap... or if it's purely spinning, in which case the stall/gear reccomendation would only worsen your problem, and you would need to look elsewhere (i.e. suspension mods)

Try flooring it from a idle. If your torquing it right up untill the tires want to break loose the suspension can't transfer any weight. I have a 3600 stall and launch from 1500. With a stock stall I wouldn't try taking it over 1000rpm's at the line.

i'd try just flashing the converter or slowly rolling into the go pedal and seeing if that helps, you want the nose of the car to jump up quickly.
