Default Cage all done, info on POR15 paints

Ok, just got done painting my cage and getting my interior back in. Here's the results from it....

First I put the regular gray POR15 paint on (the real rust preventative paint that IS UV sensitive. I brushed it on but it came out pretty smooth and had a nice shine to it.

After that, I let it drive for a couple nights, wet sanded the paint, and applied the POR15 Stirling Silver topcoat (not UV sensitive) with a brush like is recommended. The paint left brush strokes and is not very glossy at all. I'm kinda pissed about this but what are you going to do. Anyway, here are some pics for you guys

Looks good to me, but I'm sure the pics won't convey all the brush strokes. Are you going to have to fab up a mount for the window net, and won't that mean re-touching the POR-15?

I am not happy with the POR15 either. Mine turned out half shinny and half satin.

I still need to crawl back in there and sand it all back down and start over

Car and the cage look great. Couldnt you have just used the grey POR15 as a base (like you did) to prevent rust, and then just gone over it with spray paint? Either way I still think it looks great, but like its been said, Im sure its hard to show the problem areas in the pics.

I'm ready to go do some shakedown passes to try to get the suspension all sorted out, just waiting for a track (might go to osceola since 41 is still down) and a nice day

The brush strokes are more visible in person. And as for the window net, I know i'll have to go and touch it up but it can't look too much worse with the brush strokes

And to the rest, i've thought about going and resanding it to the base and respraying it but i'll probably wait till winter, seems like i'm not going to have much of a racing season as it is so it'll do for now

I have the brush strokes also. But Id rather live with those than have to repaint my cage all the time like my friends have to do.

Looks good..I like the way you did the back of the car! Where are your rocker bars? Does your cage continue underneath the car?

Did you change the rear bars? I notice the rear bar holes in your speaker grilles.

Yeah, it used to have a Wolfe 6-point in there and I removed it for the new cage

Looks good to me, when you own it you're way more judgemental... I'm sure when others look at your car they won't think anything of it.

Mine's black now and it looks really good but I want it Silver. Not sure if I want por15 or go through the trouble of taping EVERYTHING up and spraying it metallic silver. The beauty of por15 is how easy it is to touch up.

I got mine off ebay, just be aware that the "original" style por15 that they sell is UV sensitive and most be topcoated if it'll be seeing sunlight for any length of time. If not, the color will change on it
