Manually shift auto or Manually shift auto or put it in drive let it do its own shifting.For drag raceing.
Seem to get more punch on the manual.But better dial ins on auto.700R4 lt1 pretty much stock .In the future prolly going TH350 with a fresh motor.Reason im asking got in a pretty big debate about this.Most of the people i see raceing are shifting theres. Im not worryed about the big bang theroy. Thats why they have tranny shops

If you want a 4L60(non-e) to shift higher, install a governor kit.
Manually shifting is terribly inefficient.
For a stock (or lightly modded) Lt1, stock shift points should be pretty close to optimal.
If you want it to shift harder, install a shift kit

On all my past cars I let it shift on its on, this car has a TH-400 with a B&M Wrachet chifter so for racing Ill shift it myself since I can get more RPM that way. You can also slam it into gear since it locks into every gear and you cant go past it.
Factory shifters you can't do this. This is also a regular automatic valve body tranny.
Let yours do it on its own.
