You can definitely do that but if you don't have a thermostat the car won't warm up fast. I had thought about using my fan output on my BS3 to a 2 relays, one for the fan the other for the water pump when temps get to 165-170.

for remount setup. what about just useing rounds holes in the plate. tapping them for the fitting directly. No $95 adapors, and less gaskets to leak/buy?

Its easier to weld to the aluminum since 1/4" does not really give you enough material to thread into.
