What size tire are you running? Our friend Paul runs 8's on a 275 60 15 and Bowman runs the same class and I never see them really light them up.

Usually they just get it to start smoking and roll out on the M/T Radial.

That is pretty much what I do. I se alot of people not even do more then a dry hopp on them then complain they do not hook. i will get them smokeing and roll out. They will be good and hot and sticky.

From what you are saying he is getting them good and hot too

i daily drive on my m/t drag radials and ive got about 5000-5500 miles and probably 40-50 passes, and they still look great (60-70% left). * plus one night of racing when a buddy borrowed them and i wasnt there and he did a HUGGGGGGE burnout on every run at around 11psi. * i'd measure the tread depth, but im in south dakota and my car is at home in texas.

my first burnout of the night isn't a tire melter, but gets some nice heat in them. i'll spin them till i see smoke on the passenger side of the car and roll thru. every other burnout for the rest of the night is just a light haze and roll out.

i've also been wondering about the hoosier as well, but it doesnt seem like they'd be good for much street driving, which is what i've enjoyed so far about my mickey's...

It's a trial and error thing, not is enough won't hook and too much of a burn out will also slow the 60fts

Needless to say, I don't have plans to go back to the M/T's anytime soon.

I will admit the Hoosier is not well suited to street duty. I certainly wouldn't use them on the street. But for a drag only tire, they are a very good choice IMO.
DOTracer summed it up well in this post.

Anymore questions?

Call Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic and speak with Roy Freeman. They are located here in Finksburg, MD.

BTW, just set a new personal best 60' of 1.289 footbraking my combination on the 325 Hoosier DOT D/R tires....naturally aspirated to boot.

I've had the 17" MT radials on for 2 summers; 5,000-6,000 miles & around 50-60 passes, they are about on the wear bars now. I did real small burnouts all of last summer, until I figured out the needed more heat to work well for me.

Anyone run these tires without doing much racing and if so how many miles can you get out of these things?
